It all begins with an dream.

Circa 1970, Don Francisco Botero, along with his lovely wife, six sons and three daughters, moved to Colombia's capital, Bogota. The young father started off in the bustling city by accommodating his family in a three story townhouse; his wife and children made their living quarters on the top floor. The second floor was used as storage and the first floor was split between a store front and a roofed backyard, where the shoes were made by hand by Don Francisco, himself.

Each and every one of his six boys learned the shoe making trade and soon their brand was known as one of the best hand made shoes in the area, each specializing in a different type of shoe.

Years later, the eldest of the Botero boys, Fernando, had the opportunity to immigrate to America and pursue new opportunities for his family. He was followed by his two youngest siblings, Margarita and Juan Carlos.

After decades far from his homeland, the youngest of the Botero boys, Juan Carlos, returned to Bogota, Colombia to find that the previous booming shoe industry was languishing under the flood of mass production from foreign companies.

In 2021, Juan Carlos, deciding to support his Colombian family, invested in their production of a style of shoe that could be lightweight, versatile and comfortable. The brand name PePo’S, referring to Juan Carlos’ childhood nickname began and together the brothers engineered a shoe that has proven to be loved by people of all genders, ages and sizes!

For the Botero family, keeping this particular trade alive is an opportunity to support artisans and inspire the next generation as we reminisce about the old days. Each pair of PePo’S is produced in Bogota, Colombia by a skilled artisan shoemaker. This ensures the quality of each shoe and makes each pair unique!

We have found that people of all ages, big and small love PePo’S shoes! We are sure you will too!
